I was late for prom

So I've had a bit of a crazy week, two snow storms landed here with very warm spring like days in between. I had the longest day at work on Monday and came home feeling like I needed to do something different to cheer me up so I decided to build in Igloo in my backyard with my girlfriend.  The igloo was glorious till the next day when the temperature shot up to about 4 degrees and it started to melt but still stood tall.  Friday afternoon another storm landed and I had a couple friends over to watch some olympics in the igloo but we couldn't all fit so we decided to build an extension onto the first igloo to be able to put some chairs in and hang out and watch olympics without having to lay all over each other.  5 hours later we had completed construction of phase 2.

February went by so quick, lots of parties, drinking, snowboarding, working, dancing, fort building, renovating.  My newest accomplishment was being added to the DMCA's watch list and several of my blog posts we were removed for copyright reasons.  So I'm not sure how I'm going to proceed to post my remixes, maybe simply not include a track listing or maybe making it so that you can only listen and remove the download links.  They didn't give me much details on what the infringement was, it could have been the photo's on the post and not the music  but that is highly unlikely.  The Alex Metric remix of the new Gorillaz single and my own EBOUGE mix was taken down.  I've put them back up but without the music for now.

For now here is my latest mix which I really love.  I'm starting to put more effects and loops in my transitions but I'm still not comfortable with playing with cue points and mashing tracks on the fly. I'm dedicating this mix to a great retro prom night I went to a couple weeks ago where I was dressed in some stylish retro gear with some good friends.

Jay Electronica is Hotshizzzzzle

So I was riding around in my GMC Acadia rental the last couple days while my Jeep was in getting some work done and had the pleasure of listening to some Sirius XM for a bit.  Part of me misses the Hip Hop Nation, Shade 45, Area 33 and so much more but it just wasn't worth the cashola.  I was reliving my hip hop days, and came across a new track that I dug.  For a guy not into electro music his name really doesn't fit as far as rap names go.  Anyways that's all I got for now, I'm so tired from the worky work work.

Gimme Gimme Never Get

There are two tracks that I am drying to get my hands on and can't find anywhere.  Can't buy them or download them right now.  I don't like waiting, I hate not being able to have something I really want.

The first track has enormous buzz on the internet and is going to be a massive club banger.  Afrojack who has great DJ stage presence is dropping Bangduck.   If anyone can find a decent version of the track let me know, the live videos of it in a couple clubs have the crowds going ape shit over it.  Next track I really wants is something real obscure, that doesn't officially drop till March 22nd.  That is a Swick Remix of Dirty Beats - Alone in the Jungle.  I don't think anyone has ripped it for the internet, but a little buzz is brewing over a couple live sets that have been played and how huge this track is going to be.  I must have!

For now I'll leave you with something I do have.  I found this awesome Laidback Luke Remix of a Bob Sinclair track, it's a keeper.  Makes me want to do aerobics, or workout a little.

Gym Flute ( Bunek Mashup ) ( Gym Tonic & Che Flute ) - Bob Sinclair, Laidback Luke & Steve Angello

ps. Laidback Luke is in Toronto on the 20th, London on the 21st, Montreal on the 27th with my favorite DJ Fakeblood, Calvin Harris, Annie Mac and more.  Check it out if you get time, it's gonna be an awesome evening.

Italy + Disco = Funeral Party

Today's disco banger comes from Frank Agrario.  Straight out of Italy Frank featuring Les Fauves (who are probably French) created a dance masterpiece.  I think this is my favorite dance track since Duck Sauce's Nasty.   You'll probably want to dance or at least bob your head to the beat when you hear this, if you don't you may want to get your hearing checked.

How Many M's does it take to get to the middle of Mmmatthias?

I've never been a huge fan of German Electro, but if I had to pick out one artist that stands out above the others at the moment with an incredible sound that makes me want to dance like on prom night it would probably have to be MMMatthhias.  I'm not sure what the multiple M's and T's are for, but one thing I do know is that this guy can remix anything and make it sound good.  He has had a couple official remixes for groups as big as Justice & Bloc Party, and has his own new EP called James that came out this month and is off the hook.

The Sabotage remix from the James EP is probably my favorite.

A Major Whisker Watch Alert Is In Effect Here

Give your cat the massage it deserves. Breakbot's EP releases on tomorrow on Valentines Day via Ed Banger Records. I can't seem to find the Siriusmo remix of Baby I'm Yours but when I do you'll be the first to hear it as it is groovy. Annie Mac dropped a preview of it on her radio show last week. Ed Banger crew need to visit Canada soon, that would be stellar.

For now this will have to do, Enjoy!

CuDi Vs Cupid

DatNewCudi.com: Dan Black Feat. Kid Cudi - Symphonies Remix from DP on Vimeo.

So I just watched a great remix video of a Kid CuDi track Symphonies that is pure anthem. Most of you won't know what I mean by that and I've spent the last couple minutes trying to figure it out myself but I can't.  Maybe it is something "spectaculaire"or maybe it is nothing at all, I'm not quite sure.  What I am sure of is that a lot of time went into this video and that the track isn't too bad.  I know CuDi is some real commercialized shit, but I really like this track so I'll let the man have one for picking this out of the pile of records on his desk and making it a hit.

None of this makes any sense does it?  Maybe I should go back to bed.

Stylo

So the Gorillaz are getting ready to drop their third album Plastic Beach shortly and have dropped the first single Stylo. It caught my ear a couple weeks ago with an official remix by one of my favorite DJ's Yusek that was ok, but wasn't post worthy in my mind. The Alex Metric remix I just finished listening too is pretty wicked and will with no doubt find its way onto my next Bouge mix. This has huge dance floor potential, I'm pretty sure this is going to get 30-40 plays in the next two or three days at my place and will spread on the internets like wild fire.  Sorry for the lack of posts, a trip to Montreal last weekend and an insane week at work made it a bit tough to look for some new tunes to post but the weekend is here and I'm looking forward to finding a couple gems for my friends.

On a separate note we may start seeing posts from my favorite spic, that is if he isn't lazy and forgets.  He has great taste in music and wants to share his love of the techno/dance music with the rest of the world supposedly.  We both started listening to dance music in 98 with bbc essential mixes and the rest is history.  Anyways enough  from me, I'll let him introduce himself.

Bouge Barbapapa Bouge

Barbapapa was probably the best 70's French cartoon.  German's tried to make it cool but I never understood what they were saying in German so it was way cooler in French.   Today's mix is a bit like a Barbapapa, it has many shapes and transforms into all sorts of fun and amazing things.  The first 60 minutes were somewhat planned as far as my track selection goes and the original intention of the mix was to be a softer side of Bouge.  Of course that didn't work out, Bouge Hard took over and I followed with a harder electro finish.

Mashy Masherson's Pick of the Week

I don't think I've posted a real good mashup in a while, so here is a mash that has stood out above others in this bloggers opinion.  People generally love'em or hate'em when it comes to mashups, for me it really just depends on the mash.  2manydj's the pioneers of the mashing industry are what got me hooked on mashups.  They opened the door for an industry of DJ's who just sit on a computer trying to make two very unlikely songs mash together perfectly.  Jay Z acapella's are generally some of the easiest to mash, and can fit into nearly any genre.  This particular mash is perfection as far as rock hip hop mashes go and is by far my favorite mash since I saw a GNR vs Bethoven that 2manydj's put together in a live set.

I'm also looking at a different embedded player for my blog that allows me to use more than 4 colours but I can't find anything simple enough that works.  I wanted to find something IPhone playable but it doesn't seem to be working out.  The colours were also getting boring and the lack of volume control sucks.  So I'm going to sample out some different players over the next couple weeks and see if I can find something that works a little better.  Not that I dislike the player I'm using because up until now its the best web embedded player I've found.
