Puzique

I have no idea how this got past me for so long.  Puzique is a collaboration between Boyz Noise & D.I.M.  I was listening to mix on soundcloud and heard "don't go" and it was a real solid track so did a little more research and low and behold another Boys Noize side project.  I'm probably going to have to pick up this EP and play it over and over again until I am sick of listening to it.  It is that good, giv'r a listen.

Le Weekend

Dear DJ's & Producers,

Please update your myspace & blogs with correct tour dates for your shows.

Most likely due to the G8/G20 Carte Blanche bailed on their publicized Toronto show at the Sound Academy.  So instead we rolled out to The Social to catch The Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team (DJ Orgasmic & Teki Latex) who secretly were probably in town to meet with the head of states to discuss the future of House music.  Despite the lack of a crowd earlier on, these guy put on a great show.  Then again last call was 4am so what is early?  I've decided that the Tim Green remix of Cassius 99 has to be the house music remix of the year so far.   Crowd went ape sh*t when this dropped, so many fists pumping and hands in the air.  Awesome night, I'm sold on these guys and their label, check em out if you ever get a chance you won't regret it.  Come back to Canada soon, we'll make sure you eat something better than horse.(in reference to a tweet from Teki)

I Love Big Mac's Mix

After a long night of dancing & drinking, a Big Mac Meal (Combo #1) or any of the wonderful late night meals that McDonald's offers really hits the spot like nothing else.  No one ever stops to thank the wonderful people at McDonald's for sticking it out and staying open real late when no one else wants too, serving worlds best french fries with a delicious tasty burger.  So I've dedicated this weeks mix to the one and only Ronald McDonald and the great people at McDonald's who serve me my delicious early morning snacks. Track listing in the comments.

Eli Escobar - Love Thing

NYC DJ/Producer Eli Escobar has a new 4 track EP out called Love Thing ft. Amanda Blank. I picked up the original mix and a Mehdi remix on Beatport as I've developed a real Mehdi obsession as you can probably tell if you know me or follow the blog regularly.  The remix is very 90's dance and is super cool, I'll have to work one of these into my weekend mix I've started putting together.  I love mixing in the garden, it is so relaxing and a great way to spend an afternoon. We've had such a great summer so far and it isn't even July, It feels like August! Check out the EP on Itunes or Beatport as it is excellent.

Oizo et Gaspard = Rubber Ep Coming Soon

Rubber EP is coming soon to speakers near you.  I've only heard snippets of this release but both of these guys are in my all time top 10 so this is big news. I also really love this picture of Gaspard.  I'll take 20$ of Premium please, and can you check the oil?

Superman

A while back I was pretty into this track but it wasn't anything that stood out above most of the other average disco house sounding stuff I listen to on an hourly basis throughout the day.  Then I heard this track remixed by Reset! Wow!  Reset! puts a ! at the end of his DJ name, I wonder if this helps promoting his production and remixes?  Did he ever do a solid number on this one, you are going to dig this but if you don't it's ok you just have bad taste in music.

Why am I posting this? Because it is awesome. This reminds me of the time I was really into Jurassic 5.

My Favorite Meal

If I was sentenced to death for listening to too much house music and asked what I would like for my last meal I would probably ask them to check out this video.  This guys French accent is probably as good as the 2010 French Football Club at this years world cup.

Here is a great summer house track that would sound even better if I was poolside right now.  A couple french boys Phil Weeks & Hector Moralez go by the name of Fries & Bridges, dropped a great track last winter called Forever This.  I overlooked this for a long time but heard it again the other day in a White Girl Lust mix and was hooked.  This beat really goes with with that hot sweaty humid nights.  Have a listen and feel free to bop your head a little, it is a normal reaction to such a great track.

Sonar

Massive Electronic Festival called Sonar went down in Barcelona this weekend.  Carte Blanche played a 909 set @ 6:45 am Saturday morning, here is a little clip of it.

They are North America bound this week and playing in the T.dot next Saturday, too bad they couldn't have worked something out with the sound pellegrino crew to play the same venue as they are also in the T.dot on the 27th.

Vuvuzela Mix

Sorry folks, no vuvuzela horns in this mix.  Just some great house music to get the party started this gorgeous June weekend.  I started the weekend early last night by drinking myself into a stupor and falling asleep outside again.  Soco, you get me everytime. Couple amazing tracks with a couple brutal transitions, I blame the massive hangover.  Track listing in the comments.

Cheers!

VuVuZela Mix Coming Soon!

So I'm calling my next mix the VuVuZela Mix as I'm real into VuVuZela's right now and they are the coolest sound around since the world cup started.  I'm still looking to get the right buzzing sound to start out the mix but I've got a solid lineup built, probably record something on the weekend.

Let's go over the proper steps to creating a good vuvuzela mix.

Step 1. Play at  track with a bit of a softer Buzzzzzzzzzzz

Step 2. Raise the tempo and drop more Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Step 3. Lower the bass raise the key sowly and then just drop a massive Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Follow these steps and start over, you'll find when making a good vuvuzela mix that the transitions aren't very difficult, it all just blends.

Since I've had a long day at work and haven't had time to go through the inbox or listen to promo's I'm going to leave you with a great video.  This track has been around a while, Mehdi put it together and Thomas Bangalter did the edit, if you are a car guy you should definitely watch this all the way through.  If you don't know who Thomas Bangalter is you should probably google him, he is kind of a big deal.

Dirty Dutch House

Correction:  This house is not Dutch, but the following track is.  These guys are making a lot of noise right now, and look like they are following in the footsteps of Laidback Luke / Afrojack with that dirty dutch sound.  Note to whoever's house this is: clean it the fukk up, this is unacceptable.   Ole Ole is a preview to a Dest45 EP out on Beatport.

J Wow

Here is one of the latest releases from Mad Decent (Diplo's Label).  Another great video to go with a pretty awesome tropical tribal house track.  Tribal House is really growing on me the last couple months, I'm not sure what exactly it is about it but whatever it is keep it coming.

Chemical Brothers VS French House

I never heard this Chemical Brothers original before and I'm not really sure I like this rework done by Louis La Roche. He puts out some great remixes but this may or may not be too much, either way two people who are at the top of their respective genres are in on this track so it is still a good listen.

Fail Turned into Great Success

Le Le - Breakfast from magnetron music on Vimeo.

All systems are a go, I managed to replace my hard drive in the iMac and get it back together working, swapped the macbook drive to a solid state which has magically resolved a slight intermittent audio issue I was having with Traktor Scratch while using effects. I edited every blog post with a new flash player which took a while but that worked out well. To top it all off I found a great 22 min Radio Recording of a Swick set that is outstanding. Starts out with a great vocal house track called Breakfast, you've probably heard this before but won't recognize where you heard it. Enjoy

Massive Fail Weekend

Blogcastone.net = Massive Fail this week, not sure what happened but for whatever reason site tells me to F-off basically and the blog mp3 player no longer works ruining all my posts on the blog. Fail. I will figure something out, my iMac also decided to go on the fritz, I took it apart this morning to replace the hard drive hoping that does the trick. Since I was out buying a hard drive for that I decided to go solid state in my macbook, doubt that transition will go smoothly. All around Fail as far as technology goes this weekend. On a musical note I've discovered some old EP's I am really digging and will post about one of these days. Riot Kids - Calcutta EP from last year is wicked and here is a track I am really enjoying this morning to cure my 4 beer hangover.

Cut To The Top

So I thought I was going to come home tonight and have nothing new/fresh to listen to and boy was I mistaken. End of June has some monster EP's coming out, this is probably on the top of my list as must have's for my collection. So far in 2010 my favorite EP has been the Calypso Ep by the Round Table Knights, if you haven't listened to it search for it in the blog, the video is also pretty awesome. These Swiss boys are doing some very very big things right now, here are a couple preview tracks from their new Cut To The Top EP.

Raffaella

I swear everything these guys produce is golden, this is going to be massive when it drops later this summer.  If your into French/Disco House and these guy's aren't on your map yet, get on it you have no idea what your missing.  I hope they make it to Toronto/Montreal this summer, and maybe bring Round Table Knights and Riva Starr with them. (very unlikely event, but a boy can dream)  On a different note I never realized an official video came out for a totally wicked song by my favorite DJ/Producer from the UK Fake Blod.  Sick.

Put your hands up.......and leave them there mix

This is probably the most unflattering picture of me, but it is a classic so I had to make it my mixtape cover.  It was taken at a small sangria party/get together I had on the long weekend a couple weeks back, classic.  I didn't own a pair of tighty whities till a year or so ago and as ridiculous as they look boy are they comfortable.   Don't ask what I was doing with my tongue in my mouth either, who knows. I had a few too many that night, it happens I suppose.  This was a quick compilation I started on Friday for the weekend, several new fresh tracks and remixes that I want to share with my friends.   New Fatboy Slim with Herve, a great La Musica remix amongst some other stellar tracks. Listing is in the comments.  Enjoy!

Nouveau Yorican - Boriqua EP

I would like to first of thank all the drivers & staff of Greyhound Canada for including me in their annual golf tournament, despite the thunder I had a great time drinking your beer and eating your food with the odd moment of brilliance on the golf course. Here is a little track for you that fell in my lap earlier, great video reminds me a bit of Gare Du Nord by Carte Blanche.
