Crispy Chicken Cookies

I'm not a huge fan of chicken cookies, they never really did it for me.  New Deetron is super funky house beat.  Bart B and Tommie Sunshine got a collaberation for you that is sure to make some noise.   Chill'n remix from Tensnake and a wicke sloooooowed set from Toronto's Lucie Tic.

Hear Me Out

How is everyone this fine Monday evening?  I had a great last minute road trip to Montreal to visit a couple friends.  Friday I checked out a great after party party to see Sacha play @ Stereo which was awesome.  One of the best sound systems on the planet, and Montreal really knows how to party so the  Frenchies were definitely representing.  Saturday we checked out Velvet Nightclub that was pretty sweet cave in old Montreal.  If you are looking for some sweet smooooooth house beats check it out if you visiting the beautiful city.

As for today's tunes some newer and some older tracks.  My favorite is probably this Nic Fanciulli track, great track while getting ready before the party.  The Trumpeter is kick ass track with horns for you horney's out there.  Marble Players latest EP is out today on Beatport, go cop it.

Sad News

I was so incredibly disappointed to read this today as The Social is probably my favorite night spot in Toronto.  Hopefully the Hoxton keeps the same non pretentious & cool as fukk vibe that The Social gives off.  Just last night I was going on about how awesome The Social was to one of the boys from Botnek.  Chrowd was pretty week at Andy Pool Hall last night but Botnek's set was sick.  Those guys have a great sound that is gonna rock a lot of big rooms in the near future with a little more exposure.  Make sure you check em out the first chance you get. Annie Mac dropped the Big Bad Wolf on BBC Radio 1 tonight, siiiiick.  If you don't know what The Big Bad Wolf is I won't ruin the surprise for ya, go check it out.  Have a great weekend, giv'r.

Drink Me

I had this dream I was walking through the woods and found this bottle of magic love potion.  Well maybe I didn't but it would be really cool if I did.  If you haven't heard of the Sound Pellegrino podcast, and your looking for a solid weekly podcast make sure you check theirs out on iTunes or Soundpellegrino.net.  This weeks episode was especially good, so many fantastic exclusives.  My favorite track from the lot is probably the opening track from Homework's forthcoming 'Rally Racquet EP'.  The Rapture are back!!!!  Really excited about their upcoming album due mid July, if this is any sign of whats to come this may be the rock/alternative album of the year for me.  New Crookers coming soon, and check out the really cool sounds made with water from Justin Weisberg.

Oh and for you Local kids Botnek is playing in Toronto this Thursday @ Andy Pool Hall with Barletta.  Those guys are pushing all the right buttons these days, should be a great party.

Show & Tell

Hope you all had a great weekend, but sadly it is over and it is time for a new work week to begin.  Lots of great previews for some solid upcoming releases.  Solo has been pretty busy this spring, this Midgets go Deep preview is solid.  Expectations are high for Jam City's follow up ep after the success of 'Magic Drops'.  Waterworx is out soon on Night Slugs once again.  Polydor sample is my favorite out of the bunch, sorta like Hawaii meets house music, Midnight Munchies you done it again.   Marble Music are on fire right now, these are only short clips but I'll be sure to be buying their next release entitled "The Marble Summer EP".  Annie Mac is constantly sharing great tunes, check out her latest and greatest find before you go.  Happy Summer.

Never Miss A Good Chance To Shut Up

Happy Friday everyone, hope you've all had a great work week.  I am sad to say I missed both the Meeti & Meech - Bock EP release party @The Social and Prince Club's/ Poupon's show at Loki Lounge last night.  What an epic evening either of those shows would have been.  The good news is that I woke up with tones of energy and wasn't mega hung over.  J Paul Getto, go get it or we can't be friends. Breakbot's Fantasy remix by Jacques Renault is brilliant, gonna need to go buy that.  But the best thing by far is this 12 min mini mix/interview with Montreal's Botnek.  I hope they make it out to Toronto soon, these guys have got something real special going.  Total original sound, not sure how to explain it to someone who isn't familiar with them other than amazing.  I'll let you be the judge, check it out though it is a real funky mix.  Chemical Brothers, Prodigy & Ram Jam made the cut amongst many others, well done boys.

Vancouver

Vancouver, you are an embarrassment to Canada. With the exception of these two, the people who watched looters loot and just stood there with their camera phones recording it all, my message to you "grow a pair".  Given that the Canucks probably pocketed an extra 5-10 million for hosting a game seven in ticket sales, concessions, paraphernalia, etc the organization should man up and pay for the repairs their stupid fans caused and give some compensation to police and the people who got their faces kicked in by looters.

As for something awesome, listen to this track from Diplo & Skrillex, shizzle is hot hot hot.  Diplo also put out a great Moombahton mix that's a free download, get on it.  New French Fries remix, Mowgli remix, Hostage preview & Disco of Doom preview.  All and all a great day for music, check these all out.

Making A Playlist And Checking It Twice

Good evening folks, I present to you my latest edition of 'songs I like in an order that only makes sense to me'.  I put this latest Calou mix together on Sunday with some of my favorite releases from the last month or so.  May came and went pretty quick and what a month it was, so many great releases to choose from.  As each month goes by since I started listening to house music a couple years ago I see this real evolution in my music tastes.  I'm starting to appreciate a lot more minimal & tech sounding tracks.  I'm still probably way too into vocal tracks as opposed to big bangin' party tracks, which probably has something to do with my age.  Anyways I hope you enjoy.  I've also included a couple previews that I came across the last couple days.

A Great Idea

Good morning peoples, how are you today?  I'm great thanks for asking.  I've just about fully recovered from my Friday night hangover.  I drank so much rum I was starting to look like a captain.  Couple great upcoming releases.  Botnek from Montreal is making a lot of noise lately.  I hope there is a plan to release Owls and Panama Bass as these are two very excellent tracks.  Don Rimini's 'G.O.O.D' EP is out now, with a great remix from Tagteam Terror.  I'm most excited about this new Made To Play release from Homework. Those guys always do it 'proper'.  Last but not least a disco house preview from J Paul Getto.  I still haven't picked up their last EP, I might just have to get on that and show them some support.  They are probably the best at what they do, putting out discohouse hit after hit.  Enjoy your Sunday!

Here Comes Another One

Dark & Stormy has just dropped another solid tech EP to add to his resume.  Boston isn't really known for it's dance/electronic scene  as much as it's baseball so it's nice to see Dark & Stormy representing in beantown in this regard.  My Jays are going to sweep the Sox this weekend and make their move to establish themselves as a Al East Leader.  As for the EP. show some support and go pick it up on Beatport or we can't be friends.

I Love The Intricate Aroma Of A Real Camembert

Teki Latex is a real life Dos Equis.  By far the most interesting man in the world and he has great taste in music.  Check out a free EP featuring Teki produced by Bambounou released to promote this delicious Bache-Gabrieslen Cognac, you can grab it here http://www.bachexteki.com/.  The remixes from Panteros666 & Das Glow are super cool, overall one of the best releases for 2011 so far if you include this epic preview video.

Bock

Highly anticipated Bock EP from a couple local boys Meati & Meech coming June 13th on Discobelle.  If you weren't anticipating, fear not I probably anticipated enough for the both of us.  I had a chance to catch these guy DJ @ Mod Club and was pretty impressed and am really looking forward to catching them again at some stage soon.  Prince Club & Poupon(great job on the remix) are playing a NXNE Showcase on June 16th @ Loki Lounge, Toronto which promises to be a real solid evening of dance music.

Bazooka

Weather is way to nice to be sitting inside, so I'm gonna get back out there.   Before I do I thought I would drop my Sunday selection incase some of you aren't as fortunate to have epic weather.  Bazooka is probably my favorite of the lot.  Jackmode's first official release, how exciting for them!  Pretty great track as far as a first release goes too, I can see this picking up some serious support.  The 54 Paws edit of that East Coast track brings back some good memories, definitely check those out.  Giv'r.

Chaplin Charlie

Were keeping it real this morning, you know what I'm saying? Woobanger is definitely keeping it real with a great forthcoming release on Top Billin.  This Rishi Romero track 'Bateria' has a sweeeeeet tribalish beat that make you go bounce bounce with a big room synth sound,  they compliment each other really well.   On a totally different note I recorded a pretty sweet mix the other day I wanted to post today but I didn't feel the quality was quite right on a couple brutal transitions so I'm gonna have another go at it this weekend, maybe switch a couple tracks up and hopefully have my May installment done by the end of the weekend.

Hope you all have a super awesome Saturday.

Housemeister Be Making Some Noize

Boysnoize Records dropped its latest techno monster in the form of an album from the one and only Housemeister.  In the world filled of singles and ep's it is rare to see a full album from a techno producer/dj of this caliber.  I gave the album a 'proper' listen yesterday and was pretty blown away.   More than a decade of producing/dj'n experience doesn't disappoint this time around.

I don't think I've ever given any blog love to Mikix The Ca before.   I have no idea why, but better late then never.  Solid producer  from my motherland.  Another name to add to my list of why 'French people do it better'.  Remix for an upcoming No Brainer release.
