Solidisco

I haven't posted a lot of disco/filter house lately because I quite honestly haven't come across too many killer releases.  Check out this new project out of  Western New York called "Solidisco".  Still fresh out the gate but they got a pretty sweet sounding groove.  There first EP is coming out on DJ Ayer's label 'Young Robots' and they got a pretty sweet mixtape posted below.  Justin Faust remix below is also another great disco house track for those of you who started following the blog because of my love for all things disco house.  I know I've kind of gone away from it for the last little bit so I'll make an effort to try to promote a little more in that direction.

I'm also in loving the next Marble release from Surkin.  You can never go wrong with Deep Space Orchestra and a couple other goodies that make your bum bum shake shake.  Torro Torro was also giving away they Country Club track for free but have seemed to take it down, that is going to be huge. They are playing in Guelph @ Tabu Thursday night which should be huge.

Can you believe the kid from ET is 40?  I think that may have been the first movie I saw in theatres when I was a tyke, the memories..... Speaking of memories, I totally forgot about Mehdi's remix of 'To Protect and Entertain' last week while mourning, one of my favorites.  On a brighter note, Dark & Stormy have a new release out next week along with another brilliant release from The Sound Pellegrino, this time in the form of a 'Spell'.  I'm feeling like football has really cut into my musical time over the last couple weeks so I'm going to make an effort to post more often moving forward, and maybe do a couple proper album reviews.  Hope you kids have a better then ever weekend.

R.I.P. DJ Mehdi

I woke up to some of the saddest news this morning when hearing of the tragedy that is the passing of DJ Mehdi who was probably my favorite dj/producer on the planet.  I felt so privileged to shake his hand and get a couple words with the man, once in Miami @ WMC in 2010 and again in Toulouse later that year. The man was a saint, role model and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  My heart goes out to his family, Riton his musical white brother from Carte Blanche and the entire ED Banger crew.
