Eat Your Veggies

A couple brilliant house/tech tracks to share with you this snowy Monday evening.  My favorite is probably this Claptone EP coming out on Exploited.  Both 'Creme' & 'Good To You' are really funky tracks that I'll probably go back to time and time again.  I've also posted a pair of Zombie Disco Squad remixes/edits that are dance floor worthy.

A new label's caught my attention in 'Leftroom Records'out of London that is getting ready to release it's 7th EP next month and so far the releases they've put out are real solid.  I especially like the previews for Romulus Schwarz recent release as it really cool funky tech track with a really cool guitar sample.

This Is Our Universe On Drugs

What ah gwan people? I had a quiet night last night and it was well worth it as I feel like a million bucks today.  I've been giving dupstep a second chance lately and I still don't get it.  I can't figure out why or how Skrillex is relevant.  Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike his music but I fail to understand why there is so much love for wobble sounds.  The more mainstream it gets and the more I feel bad for grandparents that are forced to listen to it in cars with their grandchildren.  I can't imagine growing up listening to artists like  Elvis, The Beatles, U2, Nirvana, Coldplay and now being pestered by your children or grand children to listen to Avicii's 'Levels' remixed by Skrillex.  Happy Pro-Boll day!

Party Faux Pas

What's the biggest 'dick' move someone can pull at a house party? Going into someone's bedroom and stealing a pair of MacBooks from a couple students of course.  What the fukk?  Seriously man, not cool.  He or she has a truck load of bad karma coming there way, and when the karma truck runs them over it will stop and go in reverse & back over them to make sure they get the message.  Why don't these hardware manufacturers give users the ability of shutting down the hardware remotely if it is spotted online and it's a registered the product?  I feel like this would be a real good selling point and maybe people would stop stealing laptops if they couldn't be used.  Shame on you apple for sitting on billions of dollars in cash and not implementing something to protect your loyal customers.

On a musical note a really cool Dcup rework of 'Someone I used to know' that I'm digging this morning.  Wishing I had Ducksauce's - Mandolay in 320 to put on repeat and let it play out for a couple hours.  That's all i got for this grey wintery Saturday in 2012.

Booty Clap

Really dig'n this Booty Clap track I heard on a Brodinski / Gesaffelstein set.  New NT89 remix, LOL Boys bootleg, Biggy rework & a collaboration with Boys Noize & Oizo that go by the name of ' Handbraekes'.  Steve Dogs is into them, so should you.

Who are these guys?

I'm not sure what to make of this picture really.  Swick has a new EP coming and the preview for a collaboration with his boy Tranter, 'Mad Dings' is pretty cool.  Boddika & Joy Orbison put together a really dope track in 'Mercy' coming out later next month.  This is all the insight I can provide from I've listened to this weekend.

My 4am Shiiiit

Haven't posted a mix in what feels like forever so here it goes.  For the most part I stuck to music I like the most at 4am.  Went off the beat and path a little towards the end but I think you'll really like this.  Have a great weekend folks!

Lemonade

This is one of the coolest vinyl covers I've yet to see.  I love it, I wonder if anyone makes round picture frames?  Nearly as awesome as this &Me or Jokers of the Scene previews. Hope all is fine this Tuesday evening.  I've decided to play around with a little more electro / dubstep lately for fun, not sure where it will lead but gives me something very fresh to diversify my habits.  I'm always drawn back to that 4am house sound, if you don't know what I'm talking about listen to Prince Club & Poupon's latest trac 'Platinum', they know what I'm talking about.

Diva

Gary Beck got it right with 'Diva', something about this makes me want to bop my head.  I feel like making a mix this week and calling it 'Songs I would listen to if I were on a sinking cruise ship'.  Or maybe 'Music to Tebow too'.  Hope you kids had a fun weekend, don't forget to let the music take control.

Tonight Is Party Time It's Party Time Tonight

The last episode of the Sound Pellegrino podcast to close out 2011 was brilliant.  I discovered this really cool series of EP's by unknown/secret artists on the Rootz label worth checking out.  The not so secret is out that dOp did the hard knock bootleg on Rootz07 which is a brilliant track.  On a totally different matter. will someone please tell Barbie that the milk is going to taste like shit if she doesn't get Ken's head out of the fridge.

Hunting

This is probably how real hunting went down back in the day.   Dig'n new Eli Escobar, Prince Club & Poupon, Rob Paine & Charles Lazarus feat Lady Alma previews this fine Sunday morning.   Not sure which one I like better Ho's & Bro's or Work It.  I think victory goes to Work It for the fly video clip.

Unkle does some fine work on Noel Gallagher's 'What a life'.  I never thought I would find myself going out of my way to listen to either of these two brothers but this is actually really cool.  New Manare, remix from a couple bearded swiss guys, and a cool J Paul Getto preview. Two really good techno tracks, Gesaffelstein 'Viol' remixed by his bromance brother and this really cool Remix from Night Symmetry to get the new year started right.  For people whose boat that doesn't float I really dig Daniel Bortz 'Limit' which I discovered on a few best of 2011 lists.

Year In Review (Part 3)

So for the final post to close out my favorite chuuuunes from 2011 I want to take the time to mention my dearest friend  who passed away earlier this year, DJ Mehdi. (we weren't real friends, I was mostly just stalking him,  going as far as planning my vacations around his performances).  You've inspired me musically these last few years and things will never quite be the same.  I will forever cherish his mixes & productions  and he will always have a special place in my record collection.

As for the rest,  I lost my way a little with this thing called house music the last couple month but have made it my new years resolution make more time for music this winter.  Happy new years once again, best of luck in 2012!

Year In Review (Part Deux)

Happy New Years!!! 2012 Here we go.  Do not let this picture of the cheese let you believe that I dislike the following tracks or think they smell bad.  I'm actually quite fond of cheese.  I love trying all sorts of different cheeses on a plate, with crackers, wine and a grape or two.  Sometimes I like my cheese with a beer while watching football on a Sunday afternoon.  Anyways, if I had to pick my favorite techno track of the year it would probably be the Gesaffelstein remix of ZZT's 'ZZafrika'.  I still have a few more favorites I will share on a third and final Year In Review post tomorrow.  As for the rest, there is a really good mix of several different genres in here, something for everyone.
