Bah Bah Bah

I was trying to find the lyrics to this Burka track once but I don't think anyone really caught on to what was being said.  So far this is what I got:

Bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah
Nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea nyea
Doot doot doot doot  doot   doot   doot   doot   doot   doot   doot   doot   doot   doot   doot

Wynton Marsalis

I had an opportunity to catch Wynton Marsalis and his amazing band last night in Ann Arbor at the Hill Auditorium and boy was it ever something special.  I've always liked Jazz but I don't think I've ever quite got lost in the jazz as much as I did last night.  There were many highlights for me but the one that stood out the most is probably when they did a brilliantly complex jazz rendition of 'Itsy Bitsy Spider'.  It was one of the most extraordinary live sets I've ever heard in any genre.  These guys were really at a whole other level, if you ever get a chance to check out their current tour out I highly recommend it.

For something totally different of a indie dubstep nature check out a free download from Krusha for his remix of 'Kissing Taste'.  It's free so how can you refuse, everyone loves free stuff.  I'm also really digging this weird remix for Johhny Fiasco's 'Groove On' from KiNK.

Pontiac

Quiet weekday for this guy visiting Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Just got a parking ticket on my way to put more money in the meter.  That's twice this month I've been paying for parking and still got a ticket.  Sometimes I think owning a car just ain't worth it and I wish I lived in a bigger city where I could do without. On a musical note I have a  real tasty preview of an upcoming Gavin Herlihy release out on Leftroom.  Please support an artist and buy some music.

Liz Taylor

Lots of fresh music to listen to this fine Tuesday evening.  To start out I've got this 'Liz Taylor' track is pretty awesome use of sampling, with just the right amount of groove thats available in both vinyl and now digital.  For some real techno, check out the ZZT remix out on Turbo this week as part of a second  pac of remixes for 'Work' .  Got an itch for a Whitney Houston bootleg to celebrate her life?  This version of 'I wanna dance with somebody' is a little rub a dub dub steppy without going too overboard.  DWNTWN sent me a link to a video they just did for their new release 'Hungry Hearts' which is a pretty dope track.  They are a two piece group consider themselves folk artists who write electronic music and do a mighty fine job of it from what I've heard so far.  Couple other fine tracks for good measure, may your musical journey be glorious.

Hook

Dark & Stormy teamed up with Loopus Amadeus in a side project called L.A.D.S and they got a real sweet free track on Soundcloud for your downloading pleasure.  It has a pretty good hook to it, follow these guys because I get the feeling big tings are coming.  I never expected Chocolate Puma to remix a track like Nicky Romero's 'Toulouse' but they did and it's not to shabby.  I'm maybe slightly impartial to the title of the track since Toulouse is my favorite city in europe.  The track could suck and I would probably share it anyways.  Couple other beats for those of you celebrating family day (Provincial holiday in Ontario) on the internet listening to tunes.  May your family day be glorious!

Is It A Moose?

Of course not, it's an Elk.  Congratulations to two of my great friends Dane & Courtney for tying the knot yesterday and a great wedding.  I got to play around with a Digital SLR camera and realized that I need to get a Nikon D90 in the worst way, you can take some real swanky pictures.  It is nearly as much fun to play with as mixing, I can see a new hobby coming on to keep up the tradition of a family of photographers.  You can check out some of my grandma's work at www.edittasherman.com .  My boy Martin got a great shot of my girlfriend and I with this sweet looking Elk.

As for some tunes for this I can never get tired of the sample used in this short flubba ''Zanzibar' track.  You'll know what I'm talking about when you hear it, it's a dandy.  Another great Exploited release coming, a Tensnake remix amongst a few other gems.

I Love It

New Louisahhh!!  This Mantis track has a mean deep groove, its pretty killer giv'r a go until she gives something back.  Sean Miller's Canibal Royal has a very different sound that is funky in it's own way.  I usually wouldn't have given this a chance but something clicked and it's got a a little bit of je ne sais quoi.

On a different note, find a girl and dance with her tonight, she will appreciate your candid approach to dealing with the situation and if she reciprocates with some sweet dance moves of her own just keep on dancing because it's the obvious thing to do.

Music You Can Bite Into

I'm really excited to see that Filtertypen got a EP coming out on Made To Play, I feel like it was only yesterday that I was listening to 'After Laughter' on repeat.  Diplo's got a new EP coming out, 'The Birds The Word' being the b-side but I love the original so this is definitely the better track for me.  This should be an epic weekend as my bird & spic are both in town and a great friend is getting married.  Hope you all have a great weekend, support an artist and buy some music.

Monster Dance Party

J Paul Getto are doing a lot of great things these days, check out an original and a great remix amongst a slew of some other great music.  I've really fallen off the disco/filter house map lately but this might be the right thing to come along to get me back on track with what's going on.  I'm secretly hoping some friends somewhere have some money and want to invite me to go to WMC this year.  So many great shows are starting to book, my favorite being a Made To Play party that was just announced with an incredible lineup.

I've put together a little mix last week with some of my favorite tracks from the last month and what I've been supporting.  I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.  It's got a couple classics sampled like Wu Tang, Madonna & Black Box.  Show some love and share it with your friends, they will appreciate it.

Raising your hands in the air as if Jesus was a breakdancer himself. New Marble Music release is pretty sick, but overall all of these are pretty tight.  I feel like every day that goes by, the releases coming since the Christmas holidays are getting better and better.  You can tell that people are really getting back to work, and the rest of us will reap the benefits.  Support a producer & buy some music today.
