Say My Name

I nearly forgot about Chilly Gonzales for a hot minute but then the power of Sound Cloud took over and made everything alright again.  I still need to see him live at some stage as I hear it's all sorts of amazing.  Annie Mac was kind enough to share this 'Mexican Bounce' remix from Bondax that is pretty pretty good.  But most importantly a cool remix of 'Say My Name' for my girlfriend because she is the biiiiiigest Destiny's Child fan and this gives me a chance to give her a blog shout out.  ZoĆ«, I hope you're feeling better. Me miss you long time.  xoxo

What Is Love?

What is Love?  So many different answers to this question, where to begin?  Right now I've got a little love for Krusha's new bootleg of Haddaway's classic 'What is Love?'.  This has a very good big room sound and has the potential to be a dance floor monster. He's got it as a free download on SoundCloud so grab it.  If your looking for an album to buy, consider grabbing Jimmy Edgar's 'Majenta', dudes got the goods.

Champions

In the words of Larry David, this video is "Pretty, Pretty, Pretty Good".  Prince Club & Poupon have done it again with a  great use of sampling in "The Block", shizzle be wizzle dizzle.  Rekids label out of London is pretty pretty hot right now, with a few solid releases for those of you who dig that monologue house.  You're probably asking yourself what is monologue house music right?  My friend who can't stand some of the tracks I listen to sometimes makes fun of me and is like, why is there so much talking?  He's referring to tracks with a monologue in them, so I've decided to categorize these as monologue house.  Nathan Barato's - Backup Queen qualifies as Monologue House, check out the Oliver$ remix too cuz he is the king of monologue house right now.

Muggy Wednesday

Getting seriously sick of this Hamilton humidity. Got some interesting tracks for you guys today, starting off chill and ending huge with an absolute masterpiece by ENiGMA Dubz then moving through an escalating mix that caps off with Far Too Loud's absolutely ridiculous track 600 Years (off his newly released Firestorm EP, which y'all should definitely check out).

Mid July

Robosonic really did a great job with "Worst Love", the sample pulls you in just enough.  Originally from William Bell's "I Forgot to be your Lover" but most of us will recognize it from a Mobb Deep track.  A few other chill doozies for a rather warm Sunday evening.

Sunny Saturday

Couple quieter house tracks for this sunny Saturday.  I think pillow talk got it right.  New music from  Canada's Jacques Greene, Julio Bashmore, PillowTalk & Lakosa.  Enjoyski.

Wednesday Bell-Curve

Today we're starting off with some Trap-style from Dillon Francis, moving into the banger region with dub/drumstep/dnb tracks from Dream/Archie Kane, Tantrum Desire/Rusko and Skullee, then smoothing things out with some chilled out dubstep from Mitis and DJ Poizon (reeeeally diggin the DJ Poizon and Mitis Tracks). Really look out for this Trap-style stuff that has been coming out from the likes of Mad Decent and others such as 12th Planet by the way, I wouldn't necessarily say that it's gonna start trending in the mainstream but in terms of producing it is a very sick way to get a sick beat going really quickly. In other words, Trap is a really efficient method of making sick beats, due to the ratio of time spent beat-making and sample-editing.

Happy 100th Birthday Nana

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, was just off in the NYC celebrating my Grandmother Editta's 100th birthday and let me tell you, she cut that cake like a boss.  If your in New York, check out her life's work on display at a gallery on 25 Central Park W.  I think it's open from 1-7 everyday, if your into photography or old movies it is definitely for you.  It was super cool getting to meet Bill Cunningham too, that guy is a saint and a half.

fyi. Editta would probably not support any of the tracks below.

Happy Sunday everybody! Got a brand new one from Far Too Loud which is off the chain, plus a Koan Sound remix by Culprate. Also, check out the Trap tracks here, they're definitely something to look out for if you're into the moombahton/dubstep scene. This goose is doin it like a boss. And apparently goosing is a verb...?
